Františkovy lázně (Franzensbad) was founded April 27, 1793 as a Village of Emperor Franz. They were officially awarded the name of “Frantiskovy” in 1807. They are named according to the Emperor Francis I, who is considered the founder.
Emperor Franz Joseph I. established Franzensbad as a city in 1865.
In the society of the 1920s and 1930s, it was a good habit to visit baths, especially Francenbad, at least once a year.
Franzensbad was declared an urban conservation area in 1992.
